A Few Questions about the Mediator of the French Republic.
When negotiating with the government, if the response does not appear to him to be satisfactory, the Mediator of the French Republic may: - use his power of injunction against a body guilty of not enforcing a court decision,· initiate disciplinary proceedings against any officer responsible; - formulate recommendations and make them public; - in all cases, request a response from the government within a given timeframe; - request studies from the inspection and monitoring bodies at the Cour des Comptes and the Council of State. All these powers guarantee his independence.
