A Few Questions about the Mediator of the French Republic.
The 289 departmental delegates covering the entire French territory represent the institution locally. They are regularly on duty in prefectures, neighbourhood centres and legal information centres. They see complainants upon request.
They can directly and quickly settle cases relating to local government . The average time it takes to deal with a case is two months. When a delegate is unable to settle a problem, he/she directs the complainant to a member of parliament and helps them to put together their file.
